Buying at Auction
The Venice Auction Company, Inc. has been a successful auction house for nearly 30 years. Auction begins at 4:00pm in the gallery, which contains quality furniture, home décor, appliances, collectibles, antiques, kitchenware and more. There are no minimum bids or reserve prices – everything sells at our auction.
The auction and office open at noon on Thursday for preview and bidder registration. There is no longer a registration fee. You need a valid driver’s license or state-issued ID card to register and must be at least 18 years old.
Everything is sold without warranty or guarantee of any kind unless stated otherwise by the auctioneer at the time of the sale. All winning bids and sales are final so it is strongly recommended that you closely examine any items you are interested in before bidding. You cannot back out of your bid for any reason.
The bidder is solely responsible for all items purchased immediately following the winning bid. All items must be paid for the day of the sale or may be subject to a late payment fee.
If you purchase items that you cannot take with you on Thursday night, you have until 5:00 pm on Friday to remove them from the auction. Be sure to bring your receipt with ticket(s) attached as proof of purchase so your items can be released to you. Items not removed by 5:00 pm Friday are subject to a $25 per day storage fee.
If you do not have a means to get your purchases to your home, we do have delivery available. Check with the office after you have paid for your purchases for a price and to schedule your delivery.
We charge a buyer’s premium of 13%, with a discount of 3% on purchases made with cash, check or debit. We accept Visa, MasterCard, checks with proper ID, cash and debit cards.
We do accept left bids if you have previewed the item(s) in person (not online). Bids must be received by 3:30 pm on auction day. You may leave your bid with the office staff, and if you win the item you will be called the night of the auction or following day.
Detwiler’s Farm Market is also open on auction night until 7:00 pm. Their ice cream is very popular. With all food, we ask that you are very careful not to drip or drop on auction items or store furniture.
Pets are not allowed to accompany you to the auction.
